Hi, I’m Becka Thompson.
I was born and raised in Ward 12 along the Mississippi River. This has always been home, and it shaped who I am.
I’m running for City Council because Minneapolis needs to get back to the basics. We can’t afford activist politicians chasing utopia while potholes deepen, crime rises, and taxes climb. Real progress starts with the fundamentals: safe streets, reliable services, and accountability for your tax dollars. Right now, the city’s liabilities are growing, taxes keep going up, and safety and infrastructure are getting worse. Minneapolis needs change, and I’m the change candidate.
My campaign focuses on three priorities:
- Fixing our streets and restoring reliable city services
- Making neighborhoods safe and welcoming for everyone
- Holding the line on property taxes with fiscal responsibility
I’m a teacher. I listen. I solve problems. I show up prepared. That’s the leadership I’ll bring to the Council.
What we can do together
With strong, steady leadership, we can:
- Ease the tax burden on Ward 12 families
- Deliver the basic services people count on every day
- Put safety first so families feel secure in their homes and neighborhoods
This campaign is about more than policies. It’s about restoring trust in City Hall by putting the basics first.
Ward 12 is my home. I grew up here, and I’m stepping up to serve it. Together, we can get Minneapolis back on track.
